MenWalkTalk walk leaders play a vital role in their communities, running regular, welcoming walks where men can talk openly and support one another.
Starting a new walk takes commitment, consistency and local outreach. We’ll support you with training, materials and promotion, but the success of your walk will rely on your time and energy to build and sustain the group long-term.
Please consider carefully:
✅ This is a long-term volunteer role, not a one-off commitment.
🕓 We invest over £500 per volunteer, including:
We’re a small charity with part-time staff and limited resources, so we want to make sure you feel ready to commit before applying.
If leading a walk isn’t the right fit, you can still get involved!

MenWalkTalk has helped hundreds of men feel heard, supported, and connected. Here are just a few honest reflections from those who’ve taken part, whether leading or simply showing up.
“I was at rock bottom when I found MenWalkTalk. I didn’t know what to expect, but just turning up and walking with other blokes who ‘got it’ was a lifeline. It’s helped me open up and feel like myself again.”
– Walk Participant
“Becoming a walk leader gave me purpose again. It’s not about fixing anyone, it’s just about showing up, listening, and walking side by side.”
– Walk Leader
“It sounds simple, but it’s powerful. No pressure to talk, but the option is always there. I’ve met mates for life through this group.”
– Walk Participant
“It’s helped me just as much as it helps the guys who turn up. It’s a space where we can all be a bit more real, without judgement.”
– Walk Leader
“It was really good to be present, even just for a couple of hours. What stood out was how important it is to approach men directly—they often won’t come to you. Their wives and partners were especially positive and encouraging when they heard what we do. A few men even opened up about their own mental health and recognised the value in what MenWalkTalk offers. Being part of that felt really meaningful.”
– Community Networker, MenWalkTalk
“I remember one guy who messaged us saying he was really anxious about coming to his first walk, he almost didn’t show up. After the walk, he emailed to say how welcomed he felt and how much lighter he felt just from being around others who understood. It was a big step for him and now he’s a regular. Stories like that remind us why we do what we do.”
